Sport Hawke's Bay
Damon has been a board member of Sport Hawke's Bay since 2003. This is a voluntary governance role of the region's leading sports organisation.
Jarrod Cunningham Youth Sports Trust
Former Hawke’s Bay rugby player Jarrod Cunningham left more than $740,000 to a new trust that will focus on promoting sport participation and retaining and motivating the region's talented young sports stars.
Cunningham died in 2007 following a five year fight with Motor Neuron disease.
Damon is the co-chairman of the Jarrod Cunningham Youth Sports Trust. The Trust aims to carry out Jarrod's wish to see youth participate in sports and achieve at the highest level. He was especially keen to see young rugby stars further their careers.
The trust hopes that Jarrod's generous support will be financially boosted by others in the community.
Other trustees are Tony Maidens, Simon Tremain, Pat Benson, Iain McLean and Jarrod’s father Milton Cunningham.
